EGAT would not be a value-driven integrated aircraft solution provider without a best-in-class engine shop to match. With excellent engine turn times, EGAT’s engine shop is able to perform complete disassembly to the smallest of piece-parts, repair some of them in-house, re-assemble the engine and then test it at full maximum thrust. EGAT’s plasma center, vacuum furnaces and blade welding repair center will ensure that your parts are recovered per techniques approved by the regulatory agencies.

EGAT’s engine shop has also been acknowledged by GE to be a best-in-class shop for GEnx and CF6 engine types, as evidenced by a newly formed joint venture entity between the GE and EGAT, called GE Evergreen Engine Services. GE Evergreen Engine Services is focused on the overhaul services of GEnx engines, the new generation of technologically advanced high-bypass engines Boeing’s B787 and the B747-8 families of aircraft.

GE’s validation of EGAT’s strong performance is further endorsed by EGAT being inducted into its TRUEngine(c) MRO Network of service providers. It attests to EGAT’s ability to deliver strong value to engine overhauls that leverage on the pedigree of OEM material operating in GE engines

EGAT is your premier specialist modification center, from small scale winglets to 747 Flying Testbed conversions for developmental engine testing, and from 767BCF Freighter Conversions to mega-scale 747 Large Cargo Freighters with final body joins. The partnership with Boeing on the Large Cargo Freighters is a testimony of EGAT's capabilities in project management and skillsets.

EGAT's component Line Replacement Unit (LRU) overhaul facilities have been set up to address long turn-arounds of repairs by other vendors primarily based in the continental US and Europe.

In addition, it is an integral constituent of total service value to the airline customer. When aircraft are undergoing airframe maintenance, and when the need for serviceable components arises from functional tests, the airframe customer possesses the option at EGAT to outsource the unserviceable component and replace with another good unit in stock or send them into EGAT's shops for expedient repairs. More importantly, the risk of additional ground time on your aircraft at our facilities is reduced and minimized when such an option is made available. With an array of LRU overhaul capabilities, you the customer are able to look to EGAT to provide an integrated solution for your airframe needs.

Skill is key to industries and is not any different for the MRO. EGAT's core competencies rest primarily on the technical skill, know-how, and craftsmanship of its personnel, and in the knowledge databases through its Knowledge Management infrastructure. It is the skill, when applied with the operational culture of "Safety First, Quality is Everything" that delivers business value and quality to the aircraft servicing.

It is through this KM infrastructure that training is applied to all personnel. Classroom instructor training, remote Intranet-based training, and Computer-Based Training modes are used to impart skill and refresh technical know-how.

With the aviation industry being human capital intensive, EGAT combines pre-job and on-the-job training in order to leverage on its valuable human assets. This value has been reflected since its inception.

In 1990~1991, one hundred (100) maintenance personnel were sent to Spartan Aviation School on Oklahoma, US, to receive professional training, and thereafter to Boeing and McDonnell Douglas for in depth familiarization of their maintenance programs. This was immediately followed by on-job-training at several airlines, including NORTHWEST Airlines, Continental Airlines, All Nippon Airways, and Japan Airlines. The training carried out prior to the first inaugural flight of its parent EVA Air.

To uphold training quality, EGAT provides personnel training courses by qualified instructors in accordance with new type-requests which include basic maintenance training course, type training, on-the-job training, and advanced courses. Recurrent training is managed electronically to update the skillsets. Training records are kept continuously to provide traceability.

Maintenance personnel training covers the following curriculum:

  • Aircraft type training for Boeing 747, 767, 777, MD11, DC-10, MD-90 as well as Airbus A320, A321, A330 aircraft.
  • Professional engine training for General Electric CF6-80C2 and IAE V2500 engine types.
  • Technical training for repair and overhaul of components including pneumatic, hydraulic, sheet metal, composite, cabin, instrument, radio and avionics etc.
  • Basic training for new maintenance personnel including instruction on fundamental theory and procedures, as well as hands-on training.
