EVA
Presents Preview Exhibition of New Boeing B777-300ER
“Sharing the World, Flying Together” |
|
TAIPEI, TAIWAN (11 July, 2005) – EVA Air is giving the traveling public an
exclusive preview of Taiwan's first brand-new Boeing B777 with a special
exhibition today (11 July, 2005) at the Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Taipei.
Hosted by EVA Chairman Steve Lin, the showcase event features cabin attendants
presenting live demonstrations of the comfortably engineered lie-flat seats,
upgraded cabin amenities, advanced in-flight entertainment systems, and more.
EVA Air is the launch customer for Boeing’s 777-300ERs and 777-200LRs. The
manufacturer and the steadily growing airline have worked closely together to
design and develop the aircraft to meet the carrier’s exacting specifications
and today’s travelers’ evolving needs. The carrier is taking delivery of its
first of 15 B777s on 27 July, 2005, and is introducing it to EVA passengers
with an inviting new slogan, “Sharing the World, Flying Together.”
EVA's first 777-300ER will also be its first painted aircraft. The livery keeps
the Evergreen Group's signature green on the belly and tail, but alternates a
lighter shade with a warm, vibrant orange in a variegated swoosh that undulates
along the length of the fuselage. The model identification for the new aircraft
is also incorporated into the livery with EVA Air 777-300ER boldly emblazoned
on both sides.
The carrier will debut the aircraft on its Taipei - London route in September.
Within the next 10 years, B777-ERs will dominate EVA's fleet, and will be in
use on the airline's long-haul flights to destinations in America and Europe.
EVA has configured its new B777s to carry 316 passengers in three upgraded
cabins, including Premium Laurel Class with 42 seats, Elite Class with 63, and
Economy Class with 211. All three cabins feature advanced interactive Star
Gallery Audio/Video on Demand (AVOD) entertainment systems with movies,
features, music, video games and shopping; satellite communications functions;
a digital air-to-ground Short Message Service in both English and Chinese;
steam ovens; intelligent-memory seating; touch-free infrared faucets and an
extra-wide 60-inch lavatory for passengers with special needs or changing
babies.
*Extraordinary Premium Laurel Class EVA's newest cabin-service product, this
top class gives passengers a flying environment that combines the latest
technology with the highest standards of luxury. Its fixed-shell, lie-flat
seats all have a generous 61-inch pitch, 22-inch width, adjustable headrests,
electronically adjustable lumbar supports, convenient footlights, personal LED
reading lights, pull-down luggage racks, 110V/60Hz power outlets, retractable
privacy dividers, and push-button controls built into the armrests. Passengers
in this unrivaled top cabin class can settle back inflight in their own
spacious, private retreats.
EVA has also equipped Premium Laurel Class with an AVOD entertainment system
made by Panasonic that is the most up-to-date available. It boasts 10.4-inch
LCD screens and Sennheiser noise-canceling headphones that passengers operate
using individual remote controls. Selections include favorite television
programs, movies, music, video games and shopping, plus handy fast-forward,
rewind and pause features.
In addition, Premium Laurel passengers enjoy a novel Inflight Beverage Island
that EVA has stocked with a full menu of refreshments, from designer water and
fine wines to snacks and gourmet treats. Creative lighting and dry-ice effects
add to the island's unusual onboard ambiance.
To ensure that its Premium Laurel passengers look and feel great when they
reach their destinations, EVA has teamed up with Sisley. Exclusive amenity kits
contain a deep cleanser, moisturizing facial mask and a selection of additional
luxury skincare products.
Adding to the top cabin class experience, EVA has outfitted Premium Laurel with
fine bone china, an espresso maker, a wine chiller and luxurious, lofty
comforters and pillows.
*Innovative Elite Class EVA Air led the airline industry in 1992 when it placed
its first Boeing B747-400 in service by introducing four classes of cabin
service. In the years since then, its thoughtfully designed Evergreen Deluxe
Class has secured a loyal following of business and leisure travelers who value
the domestic business-styled comforts and amenities of this cabin in-between
Super Business and Economy.
With the introduction of its B777-300ERs, EVA is upgrading and renaming
Evergreen Deluxe Class. Newly christened Elite Class, the improved cabin is
being furnished with standard business-class seats that are 18.5 inches wide
and have a 38-inch pitch. Seating is further enhanced with EVA’s adjustable
headrests, coat hooks, and touch-screen AVOD entertainment systems expanded to
8.4 inches from the previous 5.6 inches.
Configured with only 20% of the aircraft's seats, Elite Class has added allure
and gives passengers increased privacy. Passenger response to Elite Class is
expected to be as overwhelmingly favorable as it has been to Evergreen Deluxe.
*Upgraded Economy Class Economy Class on EVA's 777-300ERs exceeds common
preconceptions. All seats are equipped with 8.4-inch touch-screen AVOD systems
that give passengers the highest resolution available and larger views than
most of those provided by other carriers. Entertainment options feature Star
Gallery inflight choices. And new, 18.3-inch-wide seats with 33-inch pitch and
adjustable headrests are arranged in a 3-3-3 configuration. Passengers will
also find satellite telephones conveniently located in EVA's enhanced Economy
Class cabin.
