Evergreen Aviation Precision Corporation's Grand Opening A New Era of Aerospace Manufacturing Industry in Taiwan
02 Dec 2015
Evergreen Aviation Precision Corporation, a subsidiary company of EVA AIR, held its grand opening ceremony on Dec. 2nd, 2015, presided over by Vice Group Chairman of Evergreen Group Mr. Raymond Lin, Chairman of EVA AIR Mr. K.W. Chang, Taoyuan Mayor Mr. Wen-Tsan Cheng, Sourcing GM of Asia from GE Aviation Mr. Neil Walker and VP of China Operations and Business Development from Boeing Mr. Ian Chang. Around 400 guests from government, industry and academia had joined this event and congratulate the new company. The scene was magnificent and lively.
Located in Taoyuan Guanyin Industrial Park, Evergreen Aviation Precision Corporation, also known as EGAP, was founded in November, 2012. Its first plant with the land area of 17,600 m2 featuring novel and advanced machines was inaugurated in February, 2015. After several months of planning and preparation including production lines transfer from previous facility, now EGAP is ready to make its debut and move to mass production stage. Meanwhile, the construction of its 15,700 m2 of second plant will be begun in early 2016 to meet growing market needs in the future.
During today’s opening ceremony, EGAP inaugurated the first and the only automated riveter in Taiwan which costs NT$ 200 million. Total working envelope of this automated riveter can be up to 12 m long and 3.5 m wide. Maximum force is up to 1,600 lb. and maximum speed is up to 30,000 mm every minute which is capable of installing 18 rivets or 15 bolts per minute. This equipment can also perform a multitude of tasks from each curved angles which is big progress in assembling large-scale structure parts. Besides, so as to be well-prepared for future demand, EGAP has imported world’s advanced machines and equipment. Seeing the growing trend towards composite material in aircraft manufacture business, we introduced autoclave from the United States aiming to manufacture composite products. Moreover, we’ve purchased an electron beam welding machine valued at NT$ 100 million from Germany which can weld steel plate thickness up to 100 mm or 300 mm thickness of aluminum alloy under vacuum environment. This machine is necessary for manufacturing key components of engine.
EGAP provides service of manufacturing and assembling aircraft and engine components. We are not only GE Aviation’s current supplier for more than 100 engine detail parts but also awarded a 6-year contract from them of combustor case and diffuser which is expected to begin mass production in 2016 for its next generation engine, LEAP. Meanwhile, on Boeing side, we have delivered 16 shipsets of Boeing B777 Rigid Cargo Barrier (RCB) in succession which takes company’s share of revenue contribution up to 20% and will be delivering more until 2019. In addition, we’ve also won contracts on manufacturing piece parts of Boeing B787 recently. Our next goal is to enter supply chain of new generation aircraft including Boeing B737, B777, B787 and Airbus A321 NEO in the future.
According to Boeing’s latest forecast, the global aerospace value of output is anticipated up to US$5.57 trillion (about NT$ 183 trillion) in the next two decades. Targeting at future unlimited business opportunities, EGAP has teamed up with universities such as NTU’s College of Engineering, Ming Chi University of Technology and National Formosa University as well as Industrial Technology Research Institute not only to improve its R&D and design capabilities but nurture aerospace technology professionals. Besides, in order to integrate aerospace industry resources, EGAP is planning to expand cooperation with major aerospace manufacturers in Taiwan. This strategic alliance will enhance the competitiveness of Taiwan’s aerospace industry, raise Taiwan’s visibility in the international aerospace market and win orders from overseas.
